Turkey Creek Medical Center Leads Knoxville with New Robotic Surgery System

Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) — On Tuesday, Turkey Creek Medical Center revealed plans to elevate minimally invasive robotic surgeries to new heights.

The hospital mentioned they currently have a new, advanced robotic system with over 150 upgrades compared to earlier models. This includes greater accuracy and precision, superior 3D imagery, and better ergonomic design for doctors.

Dr. Marc Campbell, who leads the surgery department at Tennova Surgical Associates, is among the physicians employing the advanced surgical system.

“This technology provides greater precision, agility, and visibility, leading to improved accuracy and less damage to nearby tissues, resulting in faster recoveries and superior patient results,” stated Campbell.

Campbell mentioned that this advanced surgical system, being adopted initially at Turkey Creek Medical Center among hospitals in Knoxville, has applications ranging from general surgeries to procedures involving gynecology, weight loss, colon, and urinary systems.

The hospital mentioned that the updated system assists surgeons as well since the new feedback mechanism enables them to sense the force applied at the instrument’s tip—this is particularly useful when handling fragile tissues.
