The Texans can now team up Higgins alongside Nico Collins and Tank Dell, once he returns from his injury. Following Diggs’ departure in free agency, Houston has brought in a third wideout to provide Stroud with plenty of options for passing plays.
Higgins has a commanding presence on the field, capable of handling assignments on the perimeter which would allow Houston to shift Collins more flexibly. Even if the Texans decide to match their star against an inside receiver, Higgins remains effective when positioned externally and excels at making difficult receptions. During his time with Iowa State in 2024, he secured 87 passes for 1,183 yards and scored nine touchdowns on what was a strong squad. Over his two years in Ames, he accumulated more than 2,000 receiving yards overall.
Only time will reveal whether Higgins can become a dependable asset for the Texans. There were moments when he found difficulty in creating distance from defenders and his route running was not exceptionally varied during his college days, which might restrict how the team utilizes him. Nonetheless, joining an organization where seasoned players already shine at his position may enable him to take on roles where he can quickly make a positive impact.
