three years ago.
Previously, Ohio State held the record with 14 players being selected in the draft back in 2004. This was matched by LSU in 2020 following their national title win. Notably, Ohio State has seen more of its players picked in the first round compared to any draft since 2016, indicating that the program is well-positioned as it aims for historical milestones.
We’ll provide updates once the Buckeyes appear on the list.
Ohio State ties draft record
Ohio State has matched its school record for the highest number of players selected in the first two rounds of the draft. The previous mark was set in 2016 when they also had seven selections within these early stages.
By J.T. Tuimoloau: Indianapolis Colts, second round (No. 45 overall)
Defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau became the seventh Ohio State player taken in the draft when the
Indianapolis Colts
selected him in the second round. Tuimoloau topped Ohio State’s charts with 12.5 sacks in 2024. In the team’s four College Football Playoff wins, he recorded six sacks, notably achieving two each against Tennessee.
Tuimoloau was ranked as a five-star recruit within OSU’s 2021 recruitment class and earned first-team All-Big Ten honors thrice. His emergence as a dominant player became evident during an outstanding performance against Penn State when he was still a sophomore.
RB TreVeyon Henderson: New England Patriots, second round (No. 38 overall)
Two picks after Quinshon Judkins was taken by the Browns, TreVeyon Henderson heard his name called as he was grabbed by the New England Patriots.
Henderson will be coached by Mike Vrabel, the former Ohio State defensive end and assistant coach who was hired to lead New England in January.
RB Quinshon Judkins: Cleveland Browns, second round (No. 36 overall)
The inaugural Buckeye player has taken the field tonight. Running back Quinshon Judkins continues the Cleveland Browns’ trend of selecting Big Ten talent, making it three out of three picks from this year’s draft. After transferring from Ole Miss to join forces with TreVeyon Henderson, the pair emerged as the nation’s premier rushing tandem, playing pivotal roles in Ohio State’s championship push.
For the Buckeyes, Judkins rushed for 1,060 yards and found the end zone 14 times. Throughout his career, he amassed 3,875 rushing yards and crossed the goal line 50 times.

OL Josh Simmons: Kansas City Chiefs, first round (No. 32 overall)
The initial segment of the draft came to an end with the
Kansas City Chiefs

Josh Simmons
, could have been selected among the first ten picks had it not been for the knee injury he sustained this year. However, he ends up being chosen at number thirty instead.
The last time OSU had this many first-round selections (four) was in 2016.
DT Tyler Shelvin: Detroit Lions, first round (No. 28 overall)
The third Ohio State player selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft is the inaugural choice from the defense. Defensive tackle Tyleik Williams will be suiting up for the Detroit Lions as the team’s pick at number 28 overall.
Williams arrived at Ohio State weighing 360 after putting on weight during COVID-19. He showed flashes of his ability early in his career before much more consistent in his final two years. His best attribute is his unusual quickness off the ball for someone his size. Williams had 27 tackles for loss as a Buckeye.
OL Donovan Jackson: Minnesota Vikings, first round (No. 24 overall)

Donovan Jackson’s
The selection at No. 24 didn’t get much airtime on TV, but Jackson has the potential to make a difference at the professional level.
Jackson was selected for the first team of the All-Big Ten conference twice. Following an injury where Josh Simmons ruptured his patellar tendon in his left knee during a game with Oregon in October, Jackson had to move from being a guard to playing at left tackle—a role he last filled back in high school. Despite this change, he excelled and became crucial to Ohio State’s championship drive. This adaptability likely boosted his appeal among NFL scouts too.
WR Emeka Egbuka: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, first round (No. 19 overall)
After setting records at Ohio State,
Emeka Egbuka
The wide receiver will join Tampa Bay as he prepares to snag throws from Baker Mayfield following his selection at the No. 19 overall pick.
Egbuka marks the fifth consecutive year that Ohio State has had a wide receiver selected in the first round, coming after Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson were chosen in 2022, followed by Jaxon Smith-Njigba in 2023, and Marvin Harrison Jr. in 2024.
Egbuka is Ohio State’s all-team leading receiver in career receptions with 205. He is considered a no-risk pick. Tampa Bay didn’t even invite him for an in-person visit because Buccaneers officials said he was so solid they had no questions to ask him.
Cincinnati Bengals make their pick, take Shemar Stewart
On the opposite side of the state, the Bengals suffered the loss of ex-Ohio State player Sam Hubbard due to his retirement, and talks with Trey Hendrickson continue to be fraught with difficulties.
Therefore, naturally, Cincinnati aimed for a defensive end.
However, they chose Shemar Stewart from Texas A&M with the 17th overall pick, even though he was a defensive end who recorded only 4.5 sacks during his college career.
Cleveland Browns trade down, Jags snag Travis Hunter
Since it might
be a while
Before we hear a Buckeyes player announced, here’s a quick update from another part of Ohio: The Cleveland Browns have traded their second-pick selection to the
Jacksonville Jaguars
For the fifth overall pick, alongside picks number 36 in the second round and number 126 in the fourth round from this year’s draft, as well as a first-round selection in 2026.
In addition, Cleveland relinquished pick number 104 from the fourth round and pick number 200 from the sixth round in this year’s draft.
Following an unexpectedly long delay, the Browns picked Michigan defensive lineman Mason Graham. On ESPN, he was questioned about how he thinks Ohio residents will receive him, considering they might still be sore due to the Wolverines’ recent three-game winning streak against OSU.
“I’m confident we’ll get along well here very shortly,” he replied.
In turn, the Jags selected Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
