NLRPD Acquires New Drones to Enhance Public Safety Measures

The North Little Rock Police Department has purchased 7 new drones to bolster its operations.

Police purchased the drones with a $69,000 grant from the Arkansas Public Safety Equipment Grant.

The drones will be used to support search-and-rescue missions, crime scene documentation, and can provide “tactical support.”

NLRPD says their purchase reflects their “ongoing commitment to equipping its officers with modern tools to address public safety needs effectively and efficiently.”

We are deeply thankful to the State of Arkansas for providing this grant,” stated Chief Patrick Thessing of NLRPD. “The funding enables us to enhance our drone initiative, which will significantly boost officer security, operational efficiency, and ultimately provide improved service to the residents of North Little Rock.

Law enforcement must use drones following both FAA guidelines and their own department policies.
