IAI and DCX Team Up to Launch Joint Venture for Airborne Radars and Defence Systems in India

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and DCX Systems have launched a new joint venture called ELTX. This collaboration aims to support India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative for self-sufficiency and the ‘Make in India’ program.

This partnership aims to enable the sharing of cutting-edge defense technology and know-how, specifically concerning aerial radar systems and land-based defense machinery, with India’s armed forces sector.

DCX chairman and managing director Dr HS Raghavendra Rao said: “We are proud to collaborate with IAI, a world acclaimed defence leader and sign this JV, a testament of our commitment to reinforcing India’s defence capabilities.

By forming this joint venture, we aim to integrate IAI’s advanced radar technology with DCX’s local knowledge and manufacturing capabilities to provide state-of-the-art systems designed for the expanding requirements of the Indian Armed Forces.

As part of its strategic investments in India’s defense ecosystem, IAI has entered into a joint venture.

These investments aim to boost India’s self-reliant abilities for operating, maintaining, and upgrading defense equipment. Additionally, they help create jobs, upgrade the skills of the local labor force, and foster the development of the country’s defense manufacturing sector.

Recently, IAI has broadened its footprint in India via multiple endeavors.

The firm set up its Indian branch, Aerospace Services, and joined forces with the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi.

It interacted with Indian deep-tech start-ups through an Innovation Acceleration Program and opened a facility in Hyderabad to enhance maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for sophisticated radar systems. This benefited India’s military forces by decreasing response times.

IAI EVP and ELTA CEO Dror Bar stated, “For several decades, IAI/ELTA’s radar technologies, aerial systems, homeland security solutions, and intelligence systems have been leading the global defense sector and supporting India’s three services as well as its armed forces.”

We are delighted to substantially boost our dedication towards fostering the localization of our technologies within India and setting up this domestic joint venture. This initiative will strengthen the creation and advancement of shared defense electronic solutions.

IAI has built robust relationships with India and its military forces through the provision of advanced technologies and strategic systems such as air and missile defense solutions, unmanned aerial vehicles, satellites, radar systems, and training equipment.

These systems and technologies are presently in use across India’s three armed services and multiple governmental organizations.

DCX Systems focuses on producing RF and other electronic systems, and it manages a production site in Bengaluru, India.

The collaboration between IAI and DCX Systems aims to utilize their individual expertise to enhance the competencies within India’s defense sector.
