Meta AI, the
the most captivating activity you could engage in
with
Ray-Ban Meta glasses
will shortly be accessible to a wider audience. The firm’s Live Translation function is
rolling out
To every market for these products, and Live AI (which allows you to engage in an unrestricted chat about whatever you’re viewing) will shortly be accessible in the U.S. and Canada. Furthermore, folks who own glasses within the European Union will now have access to Meta AI through their advanced eyewear.
Live translation
, previously available in early access, is now rolling out in every region where Ray-Ban Meta glasses are available. Handy for trips abroad or chats with locals who speak a different language, the AI-powered feature speaks a translation in your preferred language in real time. You can also view a translated transcript on your phone.
Real-time translation is supported in English, French, Italian, and Spanish. If you pre-download your chosen language pack, you can utilize it offline—without needing Wi-Fi or cellular data from your connected device. To activate this function, simply say, “Hey Meta, initiate live translation.”
US and Canadian users can now access Meta’s Live AI function, allowing them to inquire about their surroundings without constantly uttering “Hey Meta,” and yes, interruptions are permitted. This feature, formerly in beta testing, enables real-time interaction through natural conversation with your glasses regarding environmental details such as locating absent cooking items or selecting suitable wines. To activate this mode, simply state, “Hey Meta, initiate live AI.”
Furthermore, Meta AI is being rolled out across all the product’s supported countries within the European Union. Beginning next week, EU nations will have access to the visual search function, which can respond to specific queries about their environment. However, unlike Live AI, this feature does not support continuous conversations with interruptions.
The glasses’
Instagram integration
Is also growing. According to Meta, you will soon be able to exchange Instagram direct messages, photos, audio calls, and video calls using your Ray-Bans. These smart glasses already facilitated calls and texts via WhatsApp, Messenger, and your smartphone’s messaging application, thus offering an extensive range of communication features. To initiate this functionality, simply say, “Hey Meta, send a message to [recipient’s name] on Instagram.”
The music application support is being extended past the borders of the U.S. and Canada. The firm plans to introduce compatibility with services such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Shazam across areas outside North America. After the update becomes active, you will be able to inquire about details related to tracks using phrases like, “Hey Meta, could you tell me the title of this track?” or “Hey Meta, do you know when this album was released?”
Even though no significant hardware improvements were unveiled today (the upcoming model featuring a display is
expected to be launched by the end of this year
), Meta and Ray-Ban are launching fresh designs for their second-generation smart glasses. The updates encompass new options.
