Royals-Rockies postponed; to be made up as double-header Thursday

Wednesday night’s game between the Colorado Rockies and host Kansas City Royals was postponed due to rain.

The contest was delayed more than two hours and 15 minutes before it was called. The Royals said it was postponed “out of an abundance of caution.”

The game will be made up Thursday as part of a doubleheader. The first game is slated to start at 1:10 p.m. CT.

Left-hander Cole Ragans (1-1, 3.58 ERA) will start Game 1 for Kansas City. Right-hander Michael Lorenzen (1-3, 4.57) is slated to start the second game. Lorenzen was Wednesday’s scheduled starter.

Colorado right-hander Chase Dollander (1-2, 7.36) is slated to start the first game, while the starter for the second game is undetermined. Right-hander German Marquez (0-3, 8.27) was the scheduled Wednesday starter.

Kansas City won the opener of the three-game series, 4-3 in 11 innings on Tuesday. The loss was Colorado’s 11th straight on the road.
