Progress continues on new renovations to Porter Stadium

Progress is continuing on football stadium improvements at Hannibal High School. Porter Stadium, with funds from “Proposition Innovation,” is undergoing renovations to make the stadium more ADA compliant.

Upgrades include new aluminum bleachers, a press box, bathrooms and concession area.

Hannibal Schools Chief Operating Officer Ted Sampson said the main goal is to allow everyone to enjoy sporting events on campus.

“We just wanted to make a facility that was comfortable for people of all ages and people of all just ability level as far as their mobility I guess you could say. Just to have some more comfortable reserved seating, we’re actually going to expand that a little bit, the stands will be raised a little bit higher off the ground so there should be a better field of view,” Sampson said.

The district says the steel for the bleachers is expected to be in around the middle of May.

The goal is to have the project completed by the end of July or beginning of August in time for football season.
