Speedway gas station robbed in Winston-Salem; suspect arrested

A suspect has been arrested after a gas station was robbed, according to officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department.

On Tuesday, shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers responded to Speedway, located on University Parkway, after reports of a robbery. When officers arrived, they were told that a suspect had entered the gas station with a knife and stolen beer from the business.

Officials said the suspect then left on foot, but they later found him in the 2300 block of North Cherry Street.

Corwin Allen, 55, was charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor resist, obstruct, and delay a public officer.

Additionally, officials said he was charged with misdemeanor malicious injury to personal property in connection with a separate crime.

Officials said Allen was given no bond allowed.

No one was injured in the incident.
