2 Loveland residents hailed as ‘heroes’ for evacuating neighbors in apartment fire

LOVELAND, Colo. (KDVR) — The investigation continues after an early morning apartment building fire in Loveland.

Loveland Fire Rescue Authority confirmed the two-alarm blaze on April 15 on Terri Drive. The building’s property manager says seven families were safely evacuated, including 13 adults and 11 children.

Property Manager Vonda Holt said it was her son, who lives in the building, and another resident, who knocked on doors to alert neighbors.

“He said: ‘Mom, the apartment building’s on fire. Get here!’” Holt recalled.

Two cats did not survive.

Holt says the majority of impacted families do not carry renters’ insurance. Authorities are still investigating the cause but said there is no threat to the surrounding community.
