The Rockies are playing more competitively, but they still only have one road win and have dropped to 4-18 on the season.

On the bright side, they have lost four of their last five games by just one run each and six of the seven by fewer than three runs. Tuesday’s game went to 11 innings before the Royals edged Colorado, but the Rockies, led by Germán Márquez, will be back in action looking for their second road win today in Kansas City.

Brenton Doyle returns to the lineup after being on the berevment list. Zac Veen was optioned to Triple-A to make space on the roster.

Márquez (0-3, 8.27 ERA) is coming off his worst start of the season when he couldn’t get out of the first inning on April 16 against the
Dodgers
. He gave up seven runs on six hits, including homers by Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, with one walk and one strikeout. Not only is Márquez looking for his first win on the year, but the Rockies are looking for their first win when he’s on the mound as well.

Michael Lorenzen (1-3, 4.57 ERA) will be making his fifth start of the season. He’s posted on quality start on the year, but gave up four runs on seven hits in 4
