HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – It’s the time of the year when a lot is going on in the weather biz! From twisters along the dry line (dry line you ask?). We have it covered!…to wildfires in the Pine Barrens in Jersey, Tony has you covered here at home and across the USA!
A top 10 day is under our belts as highs made 80 and the air was dry like the desert on Wednesday. Looking ahead, the air will turn dirtier (hazy sky replaces the blue) and closer (stickier air supplants the cozy feel). That combination will support the risk of showers and thunderstorms into the weekend.
Thursday looks hazy and warm with scattered late day showers in Eastern Kentucky, then most will wait for Friday to get some rain.
Friday night into Saturday, a new cold front will pass armed with a few downpours. That’s the best window for a healthy half to one inch of rain locally. Saturday afternoon should dry out for Hillbilly Days in Pikeville and most of Saturday looks fine in Lucasville for Trade Days at the fairgrounds.
Temperature-wise near 80 on Thursday then in the 70s Friday through Sunday. Sunday is the pick day in the sunshine.
