TSMC’s Advanced A14 Chip Set to Begin Production in 2028

(Viral Buzz News) — In 2028, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. intends to commence production using its A14 manufacturing technology, striving to stay ahead in the semiconductor sector.

This advancement will propel the world’s leading chip manufacturer past its present 3-nanometer production capabilities and introduce the forthcoming 2-nanometer process later this year. Additionally, TSMC intends to implement an intermediate A16 chip manufacturing stage by late 2026, marking a shift in their naming conventions.

TSMC’s stock price increased by up to 1.5% during early trade Thursday as Asian markets fluctuated following ambiguous indications from the Trump administration regarding its intentions for Chinese tariff policies.

Taiwan’s leading corporation continues to ramp up its capabilities consistently, positioning itself ahead of major players like Apple Inc. and Nvidia Corp., which hold highly profitable semiconductor operations. This year alone, they aim for approximately $40 billion in capital investments, with their senior leaders affirming future strategies focused on tapping into robust demand fueled by artificial intelligence advancements.

During a corporate gathering in California on Wednesday, company leaders unveiled a fresh update to TSMC’s roadmap and explained how this advancement would enhance both power efficiency and performance. The Deputy Co-Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Zhang, highlighted a notable change within the sector: previously, manufacturers of smartphone components were typically the early adopters of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies; however, with the surge in demand for artificial intelligence, creators of bigger AI chips have become increasingly eager to embrace these innovations at earlier stages.

According to Zhang, TSMC still believes that the overall demand for semiconductors will keep increasing, and they predict that the total industry revenue will surpass “$1 trillion” by the end of this decade without much difficulty. Although this sales objective has been widely accepted within the semiconductor sector, investors have recently become more worried due to concerns over an emerging AI bubble following broad tariff announcements from the U.S.
