Ex-Mizzou Freshman Center Makes Big Move: Transferring to Georgia Tech

Peyton Marshall, a freshman center, has finally joined a new squad after spending over a month in the transfer portal.

The ex-Missouri Tiger pledged his allegiance to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Wednesday afternoon, as reported.

Following the acquisition of Shawn Phillips Jr., a transfer from Arizona State Sun Devils, which occurred on April 13, Marshall promptly entered his name into the transfer portal. While focusing on nurturing the growth of fellow rookie Trent Burns, the center spot appeared firmly secured for the 2025–26 campaign.

Certainly, Marshall’s statistics didn’t stand out during last season’s run, as he averaged merely one point and 1.1 rebounds in 4.4 minutes per game. However, when Georgia Tech welcomed him aboard, they were not looking for guaranteed output; instead, they aimed at harnessing his untapped potential.

Marshall joined the Out-of-Overtime Elite in Marietta, Ga., before moving to Missouri as a highly-rated four-star recruit and ranked ninth among prospects in the state. While securing more playtime at Missouri would have been challenging due to established competition, he is expected to see significant minutes when he enters his sophomore year with the Yellow Jackets, thanks to their flexible rotation system.

Going back to his home state ought to offer Marshall some comfort — along with an opportunity to demonstrate his skills.
