that have rave reviews and are “undeniable contenders for best in their city or state,” all in an atmosphere that is “neither pretentious nor haughty.”
The blog noted that regional tastes play a role and the word “best” is subjective, “but to barbecue aficionados, it is indisputable that their favorite haunts are the unrivaled kings of all things smoked, marinated, and rubbed.”
Not every state dishes up barbecue notable enough to make the list. Most of the restaurants listed are in southern states, with a handful of outliers in states like Colorado.
