A man was taken into custody by the Boston Police Department Monday evening, after officers found a woman dead in an Allston apartment building Monday evening.
Police said officers responded to 82 Glenville Avenue, one block from Commonwealth Avenue, around 8 p.m. Monday, after receiving a report of a disturbance.
Video taken by neighbors shows a shirtless man leaving the building in police custody, with a large police presence in the area.
Neighbors said they saw a shirtless man running down Glenville Avenue from the crime scene and heard someone yelling, “Run.”
Police said the arrest took place a few blocks away from the crime scene on Glenville Avenue, as the man ran from officers when they arrived, jumping out of a window, before leading them on a chase around the neighborhood, where he tried stealing a car before he was eventually arrested.
“During that time, officers deployed tasers, and eventually, after he attempted to steal a car in the neighborhood on Quint Avenue, they placed him under arrest,” Boston police Deputy Superintendent Paul McLaughlin said. “He was transported to Boston Police Headquarters.”
Police said they also recovered a weapon during the incident.
Neighbors said they also witnessed someone throw a number of items out a window behind the apartment building Sunday night.
“I saw a person throw a lot of stuff from the second floor,” a neighbor said. “There was a lot of glasses, clothes, buckets. Honestly, I thought it was like a couple’s fight. I didn’t really pay attention, and then I went to bed. (Monday) I went for a walk with my dog and I see a lot of police.”
Police have not identified the victim or the suspect and are still investigating what exactly happened in the apartment building Monday night.
