Quinn Ewers’ deer head room during the NFL Draft was just so Texas

Only two quarterbacks — Miami’s Cam Ward and
Ole Miss
‘ Jaxson Dart — were selected during the first round of the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday night.

Heading into the second and third rounds on Friday, however, that number is almost certain to increase. One of the players hoping to hear his name called is former Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, the former No. 1 recruit in America who was once seen as a surefire first-round pick but is now expected to be selected on Day 2 or 3.

As Ewers hunkered down ahead of Friday night’s proceedings, he was situated in perhaps the most Texas room imaginable. The Lone Star State native held his draft party in Chico, Texas, and framed perfectly behind Ewers on the couch was a peanut gallery of hunting trophies, primarily deer.

Ewers, who led Texas to the College Football Playoff semifinals this season while completing 65.8% of his passes for 3,472 yards, 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, may have to wait a while to hear his name called as he’s the fifth-best remaining quarterback available, according to ESPN’s board.
