CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — Governor Patrick Morrisey issued statement Tuesday in response to FEMA denying West Virginia’s requests for assistance in some counties.
The counties whose Individual Assistance requests were denied include Boone, Cabell, Greenbrier, Kanawha, Lincoln, Monroe, and Summers counties. The counties whose Public Assistance requests were denied include Cabell and Kanawha counties.
“Despite today’s notification, I am grateful to the Trump Administration for their strong support for southern West Virginia’s recovery following the February floods,” Governor Morrisey said. “FEMA has offered the ability to appeal this decision, and I will look at all options to do so.”
FEMA has so far approved Individual Assistance in the following counties: Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Raleigh, Wayne and Wyoming. Public Assistance was approved in the following counties: Boone, Greenbrier, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers, Wayne and Wyoming.
